Study on the efficacy of larviciding products against Aedes aegypti larvae
Main Article Content
Abstract
The main objective of this study was to investigate the efficacy of sand-coating temephos products 1% and 2%, as well as to investigate the efficacy of the synthetic insect growth regulator products. The results showed that Abate 1% SG, Larviphos 1% SG and Larvinox 2% SG had very high efficacy (100%) for controlling Aedes larvae as long as 17 weeks. The products, Sandgarid 1% SG, Azai-ss 1% (g) showed decendingly high efficacy for controlling Aedes larvae causing 99.96 % and 99.85% mortality. For Azai-ss 1% (t) and Chemfleet 2% showed inconsistent efficacy for controlling the larvae, especially Chemfleet showed 67.33 % mortality on the 8th week and increasing to 100% mortality on the 13th week. Sumilarv, synthetic IGR product was effective in retarding growth of Aedes larvae, causing low adult emergence (7%) in the first week and more reduction in adult emergence in subsequent week until the 17th week of the experiment.
