ประสบการณ์การรักษาโรคไข้เลือดออกมี การเปลี่ยนแปลงไปมาก ในระยะ 10 ปีที่ผ่านมา ในระยะก่อน ปี 2542 ปัญหาในการวินิจฉัยและ ดูแลรักษาจะแตกต่างกับในปัจจุบัน โดยจะแบ่ง ประสบการณ์การรักษาเป็น 2 ระยะที่แตกต่างกัน ได้แก่ ระยะก่อนปี พ.ศ. 2542 และระยะหลังปี พ.ศ. 2542
