Basic testing on anti-malarial drugs quality

Abstract
Anti-malarial drug are provided all country to control malaria by Bureau of Vector-Borne Disease, Department of Diseases Control. The purpose of this study is to test anti-malarial drugs in supply system since distributed from Bureau to health facilities. Areas in province of Maehongson, Ranong and Cholburi, which are different in number of cases and geography, were selected for this study. 54 anti-malarial drugs, Artesunate, Mefoquine, Chloroquine and Quinine, samples were collected from public and private sector. All samples were testing basically using 1) visual inspection 2) disintegration testing and 3) thin layer chromatography testing to assure that anti-malarial drugs in supply system reaching appropriate quality. In conclusion, anti-malarial drugs from this study are passed for quality assurance using basic testing.
