Application of Eggshell-Based Power Solutions in Controlling Mealybugs (Pseudococcidae)

This research aims to develop an insecticide from eggshell powder and test its efficacy against mealybugs of the family Pseudococcidae in both laboratory and field trials. Laboratory experiments demonstrated statistically significant differences (p < 0.05), F = 170.43, Sig. = 0.00. The treatment containing eggshell powder and calcium carbonate had the highest average mortality rate of mealybugs 28.5 ± 1.91 and a mortality of 57%. Field experiments also revealed statistically significant differences (p < 0.05, F = 76.55, Sig = 0.00) with the highest means mortality rate at 7.66 ± 0.57 and the mortality of 76.66%. The results indicate that the treatment made from eggshell powder combined with calcium carbonate could be used as an effective natural insecticide.
