Developing Field-Based Learning for Promoting Postharvest Management Skill

Abstract

          This research aimed to study learning achievement and the level of student satisfaction of students participating in field-based learning activities to develop postharvest management skills. The studied population is 17 second-year students from the Agricultural Extension and Community Development program, Faculty of Agriculture, Thaksin University, who participated in field-based learning activities on "Postharvest Management of Betel Leaves." Research instruments included a learning achievement test, satisfaction questionnaire, and group work assessment rubric. Data were analyzed using t-test, mean, and standard deviation. The research findings revealed that: 1) post-learning achievement scores were significantly higher than pre-learning scores at the 0.05 level (pre-test = 3.80, post-test = 5.13), and 2) student satisfaction in all aspects was at the highest level (mean 4.60-4.76). All students preferred field-based learning over classroom learning because it enhanced understanding and retention, provided practical skills, and increased learning motivation.
