The Efficiency of Amino Acid from Marine Fish Spray on Fruit Development and Quality of Siam Red Ruby Pumelo

Abstract

          This study aimed to investigate the effect of marine fish amino acid application on fruit quality development of Siam Red Ruby pumelo in Pak Phanang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Four concentrations of marine fish amino acid were evaluated: 0 (control), 1.5, 3.0, and 4.5 mL/L, with five replications. Foliar spraying was conducted every 14 days starting from 150 days after fruit set until harvest at 210 days. The results demonstrated that the application of 4.5 mL/L marine fish amino acid was the most effective treatment for improving fruit quality. This concentration significantly decreased pulp lightness (L*) and increased redness (a*) at the harvest stage. Furthermore, it resulted in the highest Total Soluble Solids (TSS) at 12.12 °Brix and the lowest Titratable Acidity (TA) at 0.61%. No significant differences were observed in fresh fruit weight among treatments. In conclusion, foliar application of 4.5 mL/L marine fish amino acid is an efficient pre-harvest management strategy to enhance pulp color and sweetness in Siam Red Ruby pumelo.
