Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Journal of Agricultural Science and Management
The Journal of Agricultural Science and Management recognizes the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including Generative AI, in supporting research activities and scholarly publishing. However, the Journal does not permit the use of AI to fabricate or falsify research data, manipulate research findings, generate fictitious references, produce fabricated analytical results, or create figures and tables that misrepresent facts or whose underlying sources cannot be verified.
The Journal also does not permit the use of AI to generate an entire manuscript without substantial intellectual contribution from the authors. AI tools cannot be listed as an author or co-author of any manuscript. Any violation of these principles may result in the immediate rejection of the manuscript or the retraction of the published article if such misconduct is identified after publication.
To promote the ethical, transparent, and responsible use of AI, the Journal has established the following guidelines for authors, peer reviewers, editors, and editorial staff.
- AI Guidelines for Authors
Authors may use AI tools to assist with grammar and language editing, improvement of writing style, translation, preparation of manuscript outlines, summarization of information from published literature, and development of computer programs or code for data analysis. AI may also be used to assist in generating graphs or visualizations derived exclusively from authentic research data. However, authors are fully responsible for verifying the accuracy of all text, analyses, interpretations, figures, tables, and any other content generated or assisted by AI before manuscript submission.
The use of AI must not infringe copyright, intellectual property rights, or the rights of any individual or organization. Authors are responsible for ensuring that every reference cited in the manuscript corresponds to an authentic and verifiable source and is formatted according to the Journal's requirements. Any ethical violations arising from the use of AI remain entirely the responsibility of the authors.
At the time of manuscript submission, authors must disclose the use of AI in the Journal's Disclosure Form and provide a statement in the Acknowledgements section of the manuscript. The disclosure must specify the AI tool used, including its model and version, together with the purpose of its use (e.g., language editing or translation). Failure to disclose the use of AI, or the provision of false or misleading information regarding AI use, may result in rejection of the manuscript or retraction of the published article if discovered after publication.
- AI Guidelines for Peer Reviewers
Peer reviewers may use AI to improve the language, organization, or clarity of their review comments. However, reviewers must not upload manuscripts or any confidential information to publicly accessible AI systems under any circumstances. AI must not be used to evaluate scientific merit, formulate review recommendations, or make editorial judgments in place of the reviewer's own independent assessment.
- AI Guidelines for Editors and Editorial Staff
Editors and editorial staff may use AI to assist with language editing, manuscript formatting, or preliminary screening for publication ethics issues. However, manuscripts and other confidential materials must not be uploaded to publicly accessible AI systems under any circumstances. AI must not be used to make editorial decisions or replace the independent judgment of the editorial board regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection.
The Journal of Agricultural Science and Management reserves the right to revise this policy as necessary and may request additional information from authors to verify the accuracy, transparency, and accountability of AI use in the preparation of research manuscripts.
This policy shall apply to all research manuscripts submitted for publication on or after [September 1, 2026].
