Forecasting the Export Volumes and Prices of Thailand’s Coconut and Coconut Product Using the Box-Jenkins Method

The objective of this study is to forecast the export volume and prices of mature coconut and coconut milk of Thailand. Monthly time series data on the export volume and prices of mature coconut and coconut milk were utilized, with forecasts made using the Box-Jenkins methodology. This approach includes four key steps: (1) model identification using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) unit root test and correlogram diagram, (2) parameter estimation via the maximum likelihood method, (3) diagnostic checking using the Ljung-Box statistic (QLB), and (4) forecasting data up to December 2025. The findings indicate that the best fitted models for forecasting the export volume and prices of mature coconut are SARIMA (1,1,1) (0,1,1)12 and SARIMA (1,1,1) (0,1,1)12, respectively. For coconut milk, the best fitted models are SARIMA (7,1,2) (0,1,1)12 for export volume and SARIMA (5,1,6) (0,1,1)12 for export prices. Forecasts for 2025 reveal an upward trend in export volumes for both mature coconut and coconut milk, increasing by 0.96% and 2.70%, respectively. Similarly, export prices for mature coconut and coconut milk are expected to rise by 9.85% and 3.09%, respectively.
