Factors Affecting the Role Performance of Village Agricultural Volunteers in Nakhon Ratchasima Province

Abstract

This research aimed to analyses factors affecting the role performance of village agricultural volunteers in Nakhon Ratchasima province. Data were collected with 362 village agricultural volunteers in Nakhon Ratchasima province using an electronic questionnaire (Google Form). Statistics used in data analysis included descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis using the stepwise method. The results of the study revealed that the majority of village agricultural volunteers were male, with an average age of 50.86 years. Nearly half had graduated from the high school level. Agriculture was their main occupation, with an average annual agricultural income of 132,408.29 baht. Most held leadership positions within the community, were members of agricultural groups or organizations, or served as volunteers in other roles. They exhibited a high level of knowledge and understanding in carrying out their duties according to their assigned roles. The most significant motivational factor was receiving advice on problem-solving from agricultural extension officers. Their overall performance in assigned roles was rated highly, with the most actively performed tasks being those that benefited farmers and the community, or those requested by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives or other agencies. The factors affecting the performance of village agricultural volunteers included age and work motivation, both of which had a positive effect at the statistical significance level of 0.01. Therefore, agricultural extension officers and relevant agencies should conduct regular field visits to monitor, provide guidance, and address issues related to the performance of village agricultural volunteers in their assigned roles. This effort will serve to boost morale and support their work effectively.
