Extension of Integrated Pest Management on Pomelo Farmers in Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom Province

Abstract

he objectives of this research were to study 1) social and economic conditions 2) knowledge of integrated pest management 3) needs of integrated pest management of pomelo production and 4) problems about extension of integrated pest management of pomelo production of farmers. The population of this research was 205 pomelo farmers in Nakhon Chai Si district, Nakhon Pathom province who had registered with the Department of Agriculture Extension in 2021. Interview questionnaires were used to collect data. Data were analyzed by using statistics i.e. frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and ranking. The results indicated that (1) Most of the farmers were male, average age 50.81 years old, graduated primary school.

The average of Experienced in pomelo cultivation was 8.76 years. There were 2.03 workers in pomelo production on average. The average pomelo production area was 4.49 rai/farm. The average income from pomelo production per year was 225,712.50 baht. (2) The most of integrated pest management using natural substances for farmer, lack of knowledge of the use of most physics methods. The most of using the agricultural method for farmers practiced and minimal use of physics methods. 3) Farmers' needs for the extension of integrated pest management methods and the most support. 4) Problems with the extension of integrated pest management on issue the most extension and supported. Suggestion of officers should follow the pomelo cultivation plots, lead to a conversion to study diseases and pests
